Oprah Winfrey is a woman who inspired many people. And her life story will soon be made in films. A film producer Larry A. Thomson (who produce Original Sin in 1989) will produce this film based on controversial book written by Kitty Kelly with title "Oprah: A Biography".
"Oprah Winfrey's remarkable journey from rural Mississippi to the world stage is packed with simple honesty and a complex personality," says Larry, "deeply researched book by Kitty Kelly offers us the facts to know the portrait of cinematic figures who have power and being loved by everyone. Casting someone who will play as Oprah would be a real challenge. We plan to do an audition to select from both famous actress or not. "
Kelly, who has given his book rights to be adapted into a visual display also welcomed the intention of Larry. "A little Hoolywood filmmakers like Larry Thompson has experience in understanding and exploring the emotional complexity of a famous person dramatically. That is why I am very glad he chose to film my book. Biography of great people must separate myth from the fact and hype from the truth," says Kelly.
"Oprah: A Biography" is considered as quite controversial book because it tells about Oprah Winfrey's background who emphasis to poverty. Beside that, the books also said that in her life's journey, Oprah's allegedly been involved in drugs.
